Abstract : Abstract - Tons of glass waste are produced globally, posing a severe solid waste management problem. The construction industry has huge potential to reuse this glass waste, reducing solid waste and greenhouse emissions. Glass bottles can be used by crushing and converted into powder which can be utilized in concrete as sand. An experimental work was performed to study the workability and compressive strength of the concrete at the curing age of 7 and 28 days. Concrete moulds were prepared replacing sand partially (0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%). According to the test results, the slump of freshly produced concrete specimens increases marginally until the highest replacement percentage (20%) of glass powder is reached. In concrete, glass powder can replace up to 10% of the sand because it has the least negative impact on compressive strength. For better solid waste management, sand conservation, and concrete sustainability, glass powder can be used in concrete.
