Abstract : Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a semiconductor material that is widely used in sensor applications, optoelectronics, and solar cells.ZnOnanorods material has been successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method.The crystal size of the nanorods was observed by X-Ray diffraction, with crystal characteristics having a hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure. The morphology of the nanorods was observed in TransmissionElectronMicroscopy. The nanrods have average diameter of ~95 nm. The optical property of the synthesized ZnOnanorods was investigated using UV-visible absorption spectra. The synthesized nanorods exhibit strong absorption 330 nm. The band gap of the nanorods was calculated from the absorption spectrum and found to be 2.6 eV. The UV Vis result is also a high transmittance and obtained a refractive index of about 1.513, and a low reflectance. Therefore ZnOnanorods can be used as anti-reflection material.
