Paper Title
Synthesis and Characterization of [1,5-bis (2-pyridyl) 3-sulfophenyl Methylene] Thiocarbonohydrazide (PSTH) Joined to MNPs-GO
Abstract
In this work the design of the synthesis of new nanomaterials adsorbent based on the coupling of magnetic
nanoparticles and graphene oxide (MNPs-GO) is addressed. Both substances separately have adsorbent properties of great
interest, but their use involves certain difficulties. The coupling seeks compensation for the disadvantages of both, while
maintaining its excellent properties. Synthesizing the materials took place in two different routes (method 1 and method 2).
In turn, both synthesized materials are functionalized with a chelating group: [1,5-bis(2-pyridyl)3-sulfophenylmethylene]
thiocarbonohydrazide (PSTH). Therefore, there are two resins: 1-PSTH and 2-PSTH. The two new adsorbent nanomaterials
were characterized by various analysis techniques, SEM, TEM, XPS, MS and IR. Also, the capacity of adsorption of the
both resins was determined, in order to know if it is possible to apply the materials as extractants in magnetic solid phase
extraction to preconcentrate analytes present at the trace level in biological and environmental samples.
