Analysis of The Driving Drum for Inclined Flat Belt Conveyor System

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to calculate the design of driving drum or driving pulley for inclined flat belt conveyor system. One or both of the pulleys are powered, moving the belt and the material on the belt forward. The powered pulley is called the drive pulley. And the model of the driving drum is drawn and analyzed by Solid Works software. The stresses and deformation results are calculated based on inclination angle 25deg, 30deg and 35deg.Cast alloy steel and cast carbon steel are chosen for numerical analysis of driving drum. These results from theoretical calculation and static structural analysis for the driving drum in software are compared to improve while design is safe. In 25deg, the stress and deformation of cast carbon steel is 89.09kPa and 5.67 104 mm and the stress and deformation of cast alloy steel is 88.83kPa and5.69 104 mm. In these two materials, the deformation of cast carbon steel is less than the cast alloy steel. So, cast carbon steel is suitable for driving drum.
