Paper Title
Importance Of The Extent Of Far-Field Boundaries And Of The Grid Topology In The CFD Simulation Of External Flows

Abstract
A computational study has been performed in order to assess the effect of the distance of the far-field from aerofoil surface. Aerofoil NACA 23012 has been considered for this study. Considering the flow to be steady and incompressible, a Navier-Stokes code, FLUENT 6.3 was used with Spalart-Allmaras one-equation turbulence model. From this study, it is found that to obtain acceptable results from the analysis the far-field should be placed at least at a distance 10 chords upstream and 15 chords downstream of the aerofoil.
